Collins Home Care was born from a simple truth: every senior deserves to live with dignity, connection, and purpose — not isolation. Founded by husband-and-wife team Doug and Donna Collins, we're on a mission to change what the senior years look like. Too many older adults face quiet loneliness, a slow erosion of self-respect, and a loss of the independence that makes life worth living. We believe those years can be different — and we're here to fight for them.

Donna holds an Honours Biology degree with a Psychology specialization and a teaching degree, giving her a deep understanding of how people think, feel, and learn — especially as they age. Doug brings a Computer Science degree and a problem-solver's mindset to building the systems and support structure behind every client relationship. Together, they combine science, empathy, and real-world drive to make sure no senior in Windsor-Essex falls through the cracks. We're not a franchise. We're your neighbours.

What's the difference between medical and non-medical home care? +
Non-medical home care focuses on daily living assistance — companionship, meal prep, personal care, transportation, and medication reminders. We don't perform medical procedures like wound care, injections, or catheter management. If your loved one needs medical care, we can work alongside nursing agencies to provide complete support.
Why do you require a 2-hour minimum? +
Two hours allows our caregivers to provide thorough, unhurried care and truly build a relationship with your loved one. Short visits often feel rushed and impersonal. With a 2-hour minimum, there's time for conversation, a proper meal, a walk, and quality care — not just a checklist.
What credentials do your caregivers have? +
Our caregivers include Personal Support Workers (PSWs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs). PSWs hold a certificate from a recognized Ontario program. RNs and RPNs are registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario. All are trained in safe lifting and transferring, personal care, infection control, cognitive impairment support, and more.
How do you match caregivers to clients? +
We consider personality, interests, care needs, and schedule when matching caregivers to clients. We also prioritize consistency — once a good match is made, we keep that pairing so your loved one sees the same familiar face every visit.
What are your rates? +
Our rates range from $28–$38 per hour depending on the level of care required. We provide a clear, detailed quote during your free consultation — no hidden fees or surprise charges. We believe in transparent, upfront pricing.
Do you offer respite care for family caregivers? +
Absolutely. If you're the primary caregiver for a parent or spouse, you need breaks too. Our respite care gives you time to rest, run errands, or simply recharge — knowing your loved one is in capable, caring hands.
